Adam Lauridsen’s Golden State Warriors fan blog Fast Break, affiliated with the Bay Area News Group, won the 2014 Community Blogger DFMie.
The nomination said:
Misery loves company, so Golden State Warriors fans have always been a strong community. The bonds forged over decades of losing have grown even stronger with the team’s recent success. For the last eight years, Adam Lauridsen provided a forum for the Warriors fan community on Fast Break. His posts on in-game action and back-room dealings aim to provide a jumping-off point for fan discussion. During the day, Adam is a lawyer specializing in trial litigation. He finds that basketball blogging exercises a similar mix of analytic skill, persuasive writing and the ability to tap into shared passions.
The posts submitted for judging were a typical game summary, an analysis post and a tribute to Warriors’ announcer Jim Barnett.
Judges’ comments:
The winner was Adam Lauridsen who writes the Fast Break Golden State Warriors Fan Blog. We found him a knowledgable and engaging blogger who writes well and in an entertaining fashion. He’s clearly well informed, increases fan interest and engagement and is excellent at communicating his excitement about the sport.
This is one of four DFMies for the Bay Area News Group.
